A Stamford Hill special needs school had a good innings after its fundraising dinner, held at Lord’s Cricket Ground and attended by more than 200 guests, raised £230,000. Guests at the event, held in aid of children’s charity Side by Side – whose inclusive nursery and school caters for more than 80 pupils – were treated to a tour of the home of cricket, as well as a banquet dinner and refreshments served by professional mixologists. Supporters also enjoyed entertainment from TV magician and illusionist Nick Einhorn. Its chair of governors, Jacob Sorotzkin, said: “We have been absolutely overwhelmed by the unprecedented support and generosity the Jewish community has shown for the wonderful children of Side by Side. This fantastic event has been a tribute to them.”
